Adult/Safety Swim 10 minutes on the hour, every hour. All kids must exit the pool during this time (parents with infants in diapers may stay in). Reapply sunscreen, grab a snack, go to the bathroom, and take a quick break from all that swimming!
JOHN M. FLEET POOL RULES
- Give full attention and respect to ALL lifeguard whistles and directions – direct all questions to downguards
- The Carbondale Pool is a smoke and tobacco free facility (including e-cigarettes and vaping pens)
- Glass containers, alcoholic beverages, illegal narcotics, legal marijuana, and gum are not permitted at the pool
- Appropriate action will be taken for people who are unruly, argumentative, and/or suspected of alcohol or substance abuse
- Food and drink are permitted in the grass area only, please throw away your own garbage
- Profane language will not be tolerated
- Bicycles are not permitted in the pool area
- Swim suits are required: no cotton, no jeans/cutoffs, and no thongs (loaner swimsuits are available)
- Children who are not fully potty trained must wear a swim diaper or cloth diapers with plastic pants when using the pool (no disposable diapers)
- Extended breath holding is prohibited
- Pushing, dunking, sitting on shoulders, jumping from shoulders, or other rough play are not allowed
- Walk ONLY while in pool bath house or on deck
- Climbing or standing on furniture, fences, etc is not allowed
- Priority is given to private pool rentals, classes, and swim lessons
- Persons having infectious diseases, diarrhea, open sores, or recent vaccinations are not permitted at the pool
- All persons must shower before entering the pool
LAP POOL RULES
- FEET FIRST JUMPING ONLY FROM THE GUTTER – NO FLIPS ALLOWED!!!!
- Head first entry into the water is only allowed in the diving well
- No running and jumping into any pool
- Children 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult (18 or older). The adult must be in the pool with their child the entire time the child is in the water, and the child must be within one arm’s length of the supervisor at all times.
- Children who can swim one width of the pool unassisted are exempt from this rule when in the shallow end and parents may sit on the pool edge in attentive observance of their child
- Children 6-11 must be accompanied by a responsible care giver who is 18 years or older.
- Children 11 and younger must pass the Red Cross Swim test to go in water that is above their head, use the diving board, and use the slide. To pass the swim test the child must be able to:
- Tread water for 1 minute then swim the width of the pool and back without stopping and with their face in the water for at least two strokes
- Lap Swim: split lane for 2 people and circle swim for 3 or more people sharing a lane
- Large flotation devices must be approved by staff and are allowed in the middle section of the pool only
- If the device impedes vision the lifeguard will ask you to discontinue use
- Deep End/Slide: these will be open during designated times only and only one feature can be used at a time
- Only one person on the slide at a time
- Swim directly to the ladder and exit immediately
- The diving well must be empty prior to using the slide
- Flotation devices are not allowed in the diving well at any time
- No sitting on or hanging on the end of the slide
- Feet first only down the slide
HOT SOAK POOL –
- Not recommended for children under 6
- Not recommended for more than 10 min at a time
- Not recommended for people with heart problems
- Not recommended for women who are pregnant
- Keep the gate closed at all times
- No unaccompanied minors at any time
- Adult swim rules apply
