The Carbondale Annual Potato Day theme for 2022 is “Marble Mash” celebrating the 100th anniversary of the dedication of the Lincoln Memorial, which was made of Yule Marble from the Crystal Valley. In honor of the skilled sculptors of Marble, Colorado, we’re hosting an online potato sculpting contest. Winners will receive Carbondale Chamber Gift Certificates good at dozens of businesses around town.
Using a spoon for safety, carve the potato into one of four categories listed below. Take a picture of your creation and post it to the Carbondale Annual Potato Day Facebook Page or share on Instagram with #CarbondalePotatoDay with the following information:

9am: “Tater Trot” Ross Montessori 1-Mile Fun Run (Registration 8-8:45am, Start and Finish on 4th street)–FREE

9am: Farmers & Artisan Market opens in Sopris Park
10:30am: Potato Day Parade on Main Street (theme: Marble Mash Celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the Lincoln Memorial )
11am – 1pm: Rosybelle Bus with Kids’ Crafts
11:15am: Statue Contest (prizes for winners!)
11:30am – 1pm: Live Music from Gazebo (Pam and Dan)
11:30am – 1:30pm: BBQ and Baked Potato Lunch (Nieslanik Beef and potatoes from Sustainable Settings, Highwater Farm, and the Gianinettis)–$15/adults and $10/kids 12 and under
1pm: Announcements of Parade Winners and Potato Sculpting Contest Winners
1:05pm: Old-Fashioned Traditional Potato Day Games at Carbondale Historical Society Booth
1:15 – 3pm: Live Music (Hell Roaring String Band)
2 – 5pm: Youth Gymkhana at Gus Darien Rodeo Grounds by the Sopris Gymkhana Club
