Spring Into Fun Family Block Party–POSTPONED

Twin Lakes Boat Tour and Leadville

Date: August 27, 2021

Join us for a trip over Independence Pass to  ride the train in Leadville.  We will ride the train at 10am for approximately 2.5 hours and then have lunch  and some time to wander around in Leadville before driving home.  Bring a mask in case–especially if you are unvaccinated–some places may require them!

McClure Pass Colors and Paonia Vineyards Tour

Art Fun!

Carbondale Parks and Rec is partnering with Carbondale Arts to provide some ART FUN for kiddos!

This program will be held outside the Carbondale Recreation and Community Center in the covered patio area.  Please note that the June Session is in the morning and the July Session is in the afternoon.  Separate registrations required for each session.  Masks will be required if we need to move inside due to inclement weather.

Please only register if your child is able to attend all classes in the session and is able to be on time. It is very disruptive to a small art class if a child is late.

Our hiking series is culminating with one final hike to Avalanche Creek Trail Our hikes are hands-on informational sessions where you will learn “Leave No Trace” practices of wilderness travel. A hiking equipment list is available at the front desk of the Carbondale Recreation & Community Center.

Summer 2021 Pickleball Ladder Leagues for Adults at the Alpine Bank Young-Calaway Pickleball Courts

Advanced Pickleball Ladder League – 10 week series
Level of play: Advanced (roughly 3.8-4.0)
Requirements: Must have fairly consistent drop shots, ability to sustain dink rallies, and
demonstrates various levels of strategies of the game of pickleball.
Format: The first 2 weeks will be round robins which will result in your placement on the initial
rungs of the ladder. During the remaining sessions, there should be lots of movement up and
down on the ladder as scores of each individual player are accumulated and will determine who
moves up or down on the rungs. Games will be to 11 (win by one) or 13 minutes max.

Bike Rodeo

Bring your bike and helmet and give our bike obstacle course a try! The Bike Rodeo is a fun way for kids to learn basic bike safety and the “rules of the road” while navigating a fun obstacle course. Prizes will be awarded and we will also have bike mechanics from Aloha Mountain Cyclery on hand to show kids how to keep their bikes in tip-top shape.
ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST WEAR A HELMET AND HAVE A WAIVER SIGNED BY A PARENT!!

Youth Tennis

Ages 6-9 years

This program is designed for younger players. We will focus on the fundamentals of the sport and utilize skill games to practice the basics. Players will focus on learning ground stokes, serves, and volleys along with being introduced to scoring and match play.

Ages 10-14 years

This program will start with stroke production drills involving ground strokes, serves, and volleys. Emphasis will be on practice rallies, skill games and introducing players to singles and doubles match play.
