MASKS MANDATORY AT ALL TIMES! We will enforce social distancing and each child will be issued their own harness and climbing shoes to be used for the duration of the session.
This course is designed to review and build on skills learned in previous climbing classes, introduce older children to those concepts, and allow students to have fun and build confidence as they progress at their own pace through technical skills practice and technique-focused activities. This course is open to all ability levels.

An introductory climbing class for younger children and first-time climbers. This course focuses on building confidence and basic technique through games and fun activities while teaching safe practices, fundamental vocabulary, and an age-appropriate introduction to climbing equipment.

Whether you’ve never skated before or want a chance to perfect new tricks, join instructor, Chris Johnson, at the Carbondale Skate Park. Please see definitions to find the right class for you. Must have own skateboard. Helmets Required. All other safety gear highly recommended.

The Town of Carbondale Recreation Department operates under a special use permit with the USDA Forest Service, White River National Forest and is an equal opportunity service provider and Employer.

Our hiking series is culminating with one final hike to Avalanche Creek Trail Our hikes are hands-on informational sessions where you will learn “Leave No Trace” practices of wilderness travel. A hiking equipment list is available at the front desk of the Carbondale Recreation & Community Center.

Join the Carbondale Recreation Department as we explore the Wild West! We’ll enjoy lunch and antique shops on Main Street in Downtown. Then drive to the Museum of the West for exploration. Exhibits include: Native Americans, Spanish Exploration, antique firearms, uranium mine, and many more!

Join Carbondale Parks and Recreation for its Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Sopris Park. Please arrive promptly because the hunt only last a few minutes and starts at 10am sharp. And be sure to bring your own basket to collect the eggs. Participants will be divided up according to age. Registration for the Easter Basket Raffle will begin at 9:30am, and winners will be drawn following the hunt.

We love to keep this race interesting and different. This year all teams will cover a different 2 mile course than last year. This course will be fun and challenging for all age levels. There will be 50 easy Peeps made out of chalk for the little ones to fine to add bonus points. There will be photos to recreate the photo with your team. This is challenging for all ages.
New this year we will have one Golden Peep that is a grand prize for a team to have first crack at the Give Away Table. As always we will have prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams, and the team with the Best Costume. All of this will be followed by a giveaway full of prizes donated by local businesses.
