Registration Opens April 6 at 9:00 AM
This youth volleyball program is for athletes entering 4th-7th grade. Introduce your young athlete to the sport of volleyball and the importance of teamwork no matter their experience or skill level! Your young athlete will learn how to serve, pass, set, hit, build confidence and love the game all in a very fun, supportive environment. This will be a skills-based program with a scrimmage for parents to come see their athlete’s progress the last day of the program.

4th and 5th grade: Monday, July 13 – Thursday, July 16
6th and 7th grade: Monday, July 20 – Thursday, July 23

Join Carbondale Parks and Recreation for a fun outing to see alpacas, lavender farms, and wineries! We will start with the Sopris Alpaca Farm in Silt where you can feed the alpacas and visit the boutique. Then after lunch in downtown Palisade, we will check out some self-guided lavender farm tours, along with a winery or two! Bring money for lunch, shopping, and wine tasting! Please note that for this trip, we will be in and out of the van multiple times.

Meeting location: The van will depart from and return to the Carbondale Recreation and Community Center, with additional pick up/drop off locations at Sopris Lodge and Crystal Meadows Senior Housing. If you live up or downvalley and the trip is headed that direction, you may be able to arrange a pick up/drop off at a neutral location. Please call the CRCC at 970-510-1290.
Please note transportation is in standard 15-passenger vans that require mobility for getting in and out. At this time, we are unable to accommodate persons who cannot enter or exit unassisted. The vans are not wheelchair accessible. If you require a seat near the front for mobility, motion sickness, or other reasons, please note this during registration. We will do our best to accommodate when available.

Get Air Grand Junction

Bananas Fun Park
Join us for a Friday at Bananas Fun park! We will leave the rec center at 9am and return at 4pm. Kids will have access to Laser Tag, Go Karts, Mini Golf, and the water park!

Whitewater Rafting
Our final Friday field trip of the summer is a Whitewater rafting adventure outfitted by the professionals at Whitewater LLC in Glenwood! We will leave Carbondale at 8am and return to the rec center for pickup by 1pm.

The Town of Carbondale Recreation Department operates under a special use permit with the USDA Forest Service, White River National Forest and is an equal opportunity service provider and Employer.
Join us for an excellent opportunity to get outside and check out some of the valley’s beautiful local trails! Our hikes are hands-on informational sessions where you will learn “Leave No Trace” practices of wilderness travel. A hiking equipment list is available at the front desk of the Carbondale Recreation & Community Center.

This program is designed to introduce kids to baseball in a fun learning-based environment. Emphasis will be placed on fun, participation, and the fundamental skills of throwing, catching and batting. Participants will be divided into teams for two big games at the end of the season!

Summer Baseball and Softball are back! Program begins the week of June 8th and will run through early August! Based on registration numbers we will determine practice schedules along with game play with other towns.

Music on the Mountain at the Glenwood Caverns
Join Carbondale Parks and Recreation for an evening of music and beautiful sunset views at the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. We’ll ride the gondola up, listen to the tunes of Church of Cash (a Johnny Cash tribute show), and enjoy themed drink specials, all while supporting local nonprofit Roaring Fork Pre-Collegiate. Bring money for drinks, dinner, snacks, or souvenirs!

Nursery Tour with Carbondale Parks and Rec
Get ready to get planting! Join Carbondale Parks and Rec for a beautiful Saturday of nursery visits. We will start and finish with nursery tours, and have brunch at The Lazy Bear Cafe in New Castle, in between. Bring money for plant purchases and lunch!

Adult COED Softball
Play ball! This league will include a regular season, followed by a tournament. Games will be played at North Face Park in Carbondale on Monday & Tuesday nights (one game per week).
