Taekwondo and Korean Martial Arts

Start date: January 1, 2023 - End date: December 31, 2025

Time: 6 - 7pm

Location: CRCC East Gym

Martial Arts classes for children & adults. Improve your balance, strength, coordination, and flexibility. Integrate body, mind, and spirit using the Taekwondo tenets: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control and Indomitable Spirit. Sahn Taekwondo classes are taught by Nationally and Internationally certified instructors: Master Instructor Cedar Rose Guelberth, 4th Dan, & Grand Master Richard Hodder, 9th Dan. Six-month pre-registration discounts available.

Ages: 7 years & up (6 year olds are considered on an individual basis and if joining with an adult or older sibling)
Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays 6-7pm, Saturdays 10am-11am

Drop-In Pickleball

Start date: November 1, 2023 - End date: March 31, 2024

Location: CRCC Gymnasium

The Carbondale Recreation Center offers drop-in pickleball during the winter months inside our basketball gymnasium. Three courts will be provided. First come first serve.

Cooking Matters Cooking Class

Start date: November 28, 2023 - End date: December 19, 2023

Time: 5:30-6:30pm

Location: Carbondale Recreation and Community Center

Get a group or your family together and come cook!  Cooking Matters can help you discover new ideas for saving time in the kitchen, shopping healthier, and cooking foods that will satisfy the whole family. Each week we will discuss a nutrition concept and create a new recipe that can meet your family’s needs.  Kids 4 and older are welcome; please register them as a second participant.

Womens Round Robin 3.5+ Pickleball

Start date: December 11, 2023 - End date: January 29, 2024

Time: 2-4pm

Chase the winter blues away in this round robin recreation winter play.  This class will run for 6 Mondays: December 11 and 18, January 8, 15, 22, 29. The program is limited to 6 players and includes all six days of play.

Winter on the Mountain at the Glenwood Caverns

Date: December 15, 2023

Time: 4-8pm

Location: Van will pick up/drop off at the Carbondale Recreation and Community Center, Sopris Lodge and Crystal Meadows Commons IV

Ride the tram to the Glenwood Caverns to check out more than half a million lights at the top, including a giant musical Christmas Tree that puts on a show every 30 minutes!  There will be live music (Feeding Giants, an acoustic duo playing Coffee House rock), and food and drink specials.  Tram ride fee included.  Please bring money for food, drinks, or souvenir shopping!

The van will depart from and return to the Carbondale Recreation and Community Center, with additional pick up/drop off locations at Sopris Lodge and Crystal Meadows Senior Housing.  If you live down valley and would like to arrange a pick up/drop off at a neutral location, please call the CRCC at 970-510-1290.

Please note transportation is in standard 15-passenger vans that require mobility for getting in and out.  At this time, we are unable to accommodate persons who cannot enter or exit unassisted.  The vans are not wheelchair accessible.  If you require a seat near the front for mobility, motion sickness, or other reasons, please note this during registration.  We will do our best to accommodate when available.

The Silver&Fit exercise and healthy aging program is provided by American Specialty Health. It’s designed specifically for older adults. You may get access to Silver&Fit as a Medicare beneficiary through many insurance companies’ Medicare Advantage and Supplement plans.

Certain Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans include the Silver&Fit program as a benefit. Some people may also get access through a group retirement health plan.

You must meet at least one of these criteria to be eligible for Silver&Fit:

  • You are age 65 or older.
  • You are currently enrolled in Medicare.

To find out if you’re eligible, visit this online Silver&Fit eligibility check. You’ll need accept the Terms and Conditions, then enter your first name, last name, and birth date. If you’re an eligible Silver&Fit program member, follow the steps to enroll online.

We also accept Active&Fit.

The SilverSneakers Fitness Program offers a unique blend of physical activity, healthy lifestyle and socially oriented programming that enables older adults to take greater control of their health.
