Wild West Rodeo Series
Experience the excitement of the Wild West with weekly rodeo events featuring local and regional competitors. The Wild West Rodeo Series runs Thursday evenings, June 4 through August 20, from 7:30–9:30 p.m. at the Gus Darien Rodeo Grounds.
Gymkhana
Enjoy a day of fast-paced horseback riding competitions showcasing speed, skill, and horsemanship. The Gymkhana is held throughout the summer at the Gus Darien Rodeo Grounds.
Summer Park Concert Series
Enjoy free live music in the park throughout the summer. Concerts are held on select Sunday afternoons in Sopris Park, providing a relaxing evening for the entire family.

Mt. Sopris Runoff

Porcupine Loop Bike Race
Mountain bikers of all skill levels are invited to tackle the scenic Porcupine Loop course. The race is held on Sunday, July 26, beginning in Sopris Park.

Potato Day
Celebrate Carbondale’s beloved Potato Day, a community tradition that has been bringing people together for generations. This annual event features a full day of family-friendly activities, delicious food, a festive parade, live entertainment, and western heritage, making it one of the valley’s favorite fall celebrations. Join us in Downtown Carbondale, Chacos Park, Sopris Park, and the Gus Darien Rodeo Grounds on October 3–4 for a weekend of fun for all ages.
- Potato Day Pancake Breakfast – Saturday, October 3, from 8:00–10:30 a.m. in Chacos Park Start the morning with a delicious community breakfast hosted by the Carbondale Rotary Club.
- Tater Trot Fun Run – Saturday, October 3, from 9:00–10:00 a.m. in Chacos Park and along Main Street Kick off the festivities with a fun run for participants of all ages.
- Potato Day Parade and Community BBQ – Saturday, October 3, from 10:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. on Main Street and Sopris Park Enjoy one of Carbondale’s favorite traditions as colorful floats, community groups, and local organizations make their way down Main Street. Then, gather with friends and neighbors for great food and community celebration in Sopris Park.
