The Carbondale Annual Potato Day theme for 2023 is “Growing Together”-Honoring the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Carbondale Potato Growers Association in 1923.

Friday, October 6

  • 6-10 pm Contra Dance
    • Location: Carbondale Recreation & Community Center
    • Cost :$10 entry fee
    • Entertainment: Food and beverage purchased at additional cost; dance lessons 6-7pm, dancing with dance caller 7-10pm; music by the Wood Nickle String Band;
  • 5-9 pm First Friday
    • Chacos Park & Main Street Farm Fest Booth to purchase picnic baskets for Sundays “Curated Local Picnic Tote” at Coffman Ranch

Saturday, October 7

  • 8:30-10:30 am Carbondale Rotary Club Pancake Breakfast
    • Location: 4th street Plaza Park (4th and Main Street)
    • Cost: $10 for regular pancakes/$15 for Potato Pancakes
  • 8:30-9:30 am “Tater Trot” Ross Montessori Fun Run
    • Location: Chacos Park Plaza
    • 8:30-9:00 am: Registration in person only
    • 9am: Start at 4th and Main Street
  • 9 am Cowboy Coffee
    • Location: Sopris Park
  • 9 am – 3pm Farmers & Artisan Market 
    • Location: Sopris Park
  • 10:30 am Potato Day Parade
    • Location: along Main Street moving between 2nd and 7th ave
    • Theme: Growing Together-Honoring the 100th year anniversary of the formation of the Carbondale Potato Growers Association)
    • Parade Participants: use Parade Application above to register by 25 September; meet at 2nd street at 8:30am on the day of the event
  • 11am – 3pm Cornhole Tournament
  • 11:30 am- 1:00 pm Live Music from Gazebo by Dan and Pam
  • 11:15 am – 1:30 pm BBQ Lunch and Baked Potatoes
    • Location: Sopris Park
    • Cost: $15.00 Adult; $10 kids 12 and under
      • cash or credit card accepted
      • Vegetarian / Potato only plates are charged the kids fee
    • Lunch may end early if we run out of food
  • 1:00 pm Announcements of Parade Winners, Parade MC
    • Location: Sopris Park Gazebo
  • 1:05 Traditional Potato Day Games at Carbondale Historical Society Booth
    • Location: In front of Sopris Park Gazebo
  • 1:15- 3:00 pm Live Music from Gazebo by Acoustic Mayhem

Sunday, October 8

  • 8am – 12pm Ride the Ranches
    • Location: Coffman Ranch
    • Cost: $85 (Includes: bike ride, admission to “Party in the Pasture”, Farm Luncheon and Drink Ticket, ride t-shirt)
    • 8-9am: Registration
    • 9am-12pm: 50K Bike Ride from Coffman ranch along the Rio Grand Bike Trail to Emma up and over East Sopris back through Carbondale to Coffman Ranch
  • 10 am – 2 pm Youth Gymkhana
    • Location: Gus Darien Rodeo Grounds
  • 11am – 2pm Party in the Pasture
