Taekwondo

Start date: September 3, 2019 - End date: December 26, 2019

Time: 6:30-8pm

Location: CRCC East Gym

Martial Arts classes for children & adults. Improve your balance, strength, coordination, and flexibility. Integrate body, mind, and spirit using the Taekwondo tenets: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control and Indomitable Spirit. Sahn Taekwondo classes are taught by Nationally and Internationally certified instructors: Ms. Cedar Rose Guelberth, 3rd Dan, & Grand Master Richard Hodder, 9th Dan. Six-month pre-registration discounts available.

Early Release Wednesday

Start date: September 18, 2019 - End date: June 3, 2020

Time: 2-4pm

Standard drop-in rates apply ($5/child or a valid membership). One half of the basketball gymnasium will be available for open gym time. The other half of the gym will be organized drop-in sports fun! Check out additional information on Early Release programming below.
Ages: 7 years and up
Please note that our normal age rules require anyone 10 years and younger to be supervised by someone 11 years or older.

Drop-In Sports (September-May)
We will off er a rotating schedule of organized drop-in sports every Early Release Wednesday. Rec Center staff will supervise Dodgeball, Soccer, and Basketball in half of the gymnasium. Included with drop-in fee or valid membership.
1st Wednesday of the Month: Dodgeball
2nd Wednesday of the Month: Soccer
3rd Wednesday of the Month: Dodgeball
4th Wednesday of the Month: Basketball

Rosybelle Mobile Maker Art Bus
The Rosybelle Mobile Maker Art Bus will be at the Carbondale Recreation and Community Center on select Early Release Wednesdays this fall. A big thanks to Carbondale Arts for providing the bus so that kids can participate for FREE.

Fork & Pan Cooking Class

Start date: October 2, 2019 - End date: November 20, 2019

Time: 2-4pm

Location: CRCC Activty Room

Boost your child’s kitchen confidence with this eight-class cooking series. In each class, kids will roll up their sleeves and get cooking. They will work together in a fun, hands-on environment, making foods they love while making new friends too. The best part—they’ll get to eat the dishes they make! Kids will discover how fun it is to cook tasty and nutritious recipes.

Dinky Dunkers

Start date: November 4, 2019 - End date: December 5, 2019

Time: 3:45-4:30pm

Location: CRCC Gymnasium

This is an introductory recreational basketball program for 1st and 2nd grade girls and boys. Participants will learn the fundamentals of passing, dribbling, and shooting, as well as the rules of the game in a fun active environment.

Letters to Santa

Start date: December 1, 2019 - End date: December 20, 2019

Location: Carbondale Recreation Center

If you have been a good little boy or girl, let Santa know what you would like for Christmas. Write a letter or draw a picture and address it to Santa at the North Pole. Drop it off at Santa’s Mailbox at the Carbondale Recreation and Community Center from December 1-December 20. Make sure to sign your name and address so Santa can write back!

Dodgeball Derivatives

Start date: December 6, 2019 - End date: December 20, 2019

Time: 3:30-4:30pm

Keep your kids active after school by joining Dodgeball Derivatives. We will explore many different ways to play the game of Dodgeball. Have your kids played Artillery, Shipwreck, Minefield or Last One Standing?

Youth Basketball League

Start date: December 9, 2019 - End date: March 5, 2020

Time: 4-7pm (Practice and Game Times are 1 hour in length and will vary weekly)

Location: CRCC Gymnasium

Our leagues are designed to develop kids into fundamentally sound basketball players by teaching them basketball specific skills, teamwork, camaraderie, a strong work ethic, and more.
We offer separate male and female leagues for both 3rd/4th graders & 5th/6th graders. Teams will practice once or twice each week with one or two games per week as well (practices and games are an hour each). The season will culminate with a tournament. All participants will receive a uniform. TEAMS ARE FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE AND WILL FILL UP FAST! REGISTER EARLY!

Days: Game & Practice Schedules will vary (Monday-Thursday)
Cost: $90/child (includes full uniform)
Min/Max Players per Team: 8/10

***Once we get 10 players, one team will be full. Then, we
will start filling an additional team. If there is not a
minimum of 8 players signed up on the additional team, then
those participants will not play.

Family Skate Night

Date: January 3, 2020

Time: 5:30pm-8:00pm

Location: 4th Street Plaza Ice Rink

Come on down to the 4th Street Plaza Ice Rink on January’s First Friday for a free Community Party. We will have a fire pit, roast hot dogs and marshmallows, and drink hot chocolate. Ice skate rentals will be available at the Rec Center until 9pm

Introduction to Ice Hockey

Start date: January 7, 2020 - End date: February 6, 2020

Time: 4-5pm

Location: Gus Darien Ice Arena

This is an introductory program for ice hockey for boys and girls. These lessons are for those who have some skating skills with little or no hockey skills. Participants will develop their skills and learn the basics of the game in a recreational environment. Hockey helmets with full face mask and an appropriately-sized hockey stick are required for all participants. Shin pads, elbow pads, and hockey gloves are recommended.

Carbondale Youth Hockey

Start date: January 7, 2020 - End date: February 6, 2020

Time: 5-6:30pm

Location: Gus Darien Ice Arena

This program is for more advanced players who are looking to take their skills to the next level without the stress and time commitment of other more competitive hockey programs. Players will work on the fundamentals of the game along with learning and practicing more advanced skills and strategies. Emphasis will be placed on skating, stick-handling, passing, shooting, defense, positioning and most of all fun!
